Fossils were discovered in the Elrhaz Formation at Gadoufaoua in Niger. Nigersaurus lived about 115–105 million years ago during the Early to mid-Cretaceous. It shared its habitat with other dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures in a riverine environment.
