Patsy Gallant was born Patricia Gallant on 15 August 1948 in Campbellton, New Brunswick. She began performing as a child with her sisters in the Gallant Sisters before launching her solo career in 1967. This early start set the stage for decades in music and television.

Disco-era success and bilingual pop

In the 1970s, Gallant gained wide recognition for her bilingual English and French recordings, becoming a key figure in Canadian disco. Her hits include "From New York to L.A." and "Sugar Daddy." She won Juno Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year in 1977 and 1978 and for Best-Selling Single in 1978.

Later career and recognition

Beyond music, Gallant worked as an actress and television host with film and TV credits. She is a Member of the Order of Canada. In 2022 she released "To Exist and Be Heard," her first album of original material in 38 years, and has an autobiography.
