Playing career
Roy was born in Quebec City in 1965 and drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1984. He played 11 seasons with Montreal and 8 with the Colorado Avalanche, winning four Stanley Cups and three Vezina Trophies.
Awards and legacy
Roy won the Conn Smythe Trophy three times and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006. He was named one of the NHL's 100 Greatest Players in 2017.
Coaching career
After retiring in 2003, Roy coached the Quebec Remparts and the Colorado Avalanche. He most recently served as head coach of the New York Islanders from January 2024 to April 2026.
