Born 14 February 1996 in Aalborg, Denmark, Ehlers developed in Europe before moving to North America in 2013 to play for the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. He was selected ninth overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2014 NHL Draft and became a regular NHL forward, known for his offensive skill at left wing.
