Daniel Dumile was born in London and raised in Long Beach, New York. He began his career in 1988 as Zev Love X in the group KMD. After KMD's dissolution, he stepped away from the spotlight before re-emerging in the late 1990s as MF DOOM.

The MF DOOM persona

Dumile adopted a masked, supervillain-inspired stage persona, wearing a metal mask inspired by the comic-book villain Doctor Doom. He also performed under several aliases, including Viktor Vaughn, King Geedorah, and Metal Fingers, each with its own distinct character.

Musical style and legacy

MF DOOM was known for intricate rhyme schemes, unconventional production, and a lo-fi underground aesthetic. He is widely regarded as a key figure in alternative hip hop.
