Lane Kiffin

Lane Monte Kiffin is an American football coach who has led programs in both the National Football League and major college football.

Lane Kiffin is an American football coach currently leading LSU after six seasons at Ole Miss. He is known for his offensive mind and becoming one of the youngest head coaches in both the NFL and major college football.

Early life and playing career

Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1975, Kiffin grew up around football as the son of longtime NFL coach Monte Kiffin. He played quarterback at Fresno State before moving into coaching.

Coaching career

Kiffin began coaching in the late 1990s and later held head-coaching jobs with the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee, USC, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, and LSU. He also served as offensive coordinator at Alabama from 2014 to 2016. He was the youngest head coach in modern NFL history when hired by the Raiders and the youngest power-conference head coach when hired by Tennessee and USC.

Recent roles: Ole Miss and LSU

Kiffin coached Ole Miss from 2020 to 2025, compiling a 55–19 record with six bowl appearances and four 10-win seasons. His final season ended 11–1. On November 30, 2025, LSU hired him as head coach, citing his reputation as a top offensive strategist.
