Early life and career start

Born Kelly Maria Ripa on October 2, 1970, in Stratford, New Jersey, she grew up in nearby Voorhees. She began her television career in 1990 on the ABC soap opera *All My Children*, playing Hayley Vaughan for 12 years. That role established her in daytime drama before she moved into talk television.

Daytime television success

In 2001, Ripa became co-host of ABC’s *Live* (then *Live with Regis and Kelly*), replacing Kathie Lee Gifford alongside Regis Philbin. She has remained on the show for more than 20 years, earning multiple Daytime Emmy nominations and wins. She also branched into primetime acting, notably in the sitcom *Hope & Faith*.

Other work and recognition

Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos founded the production company Milojo Productions. In 2022 she published the memoir *Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories*. She has received several Daytime Emmy Awards and was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2016.
