Born in Sinope (c. 413/404 BC), he later lived in Athens and Corinth. He died around 324/321 BC, probably in Corinth. Ancient sources preserve his life mainly through anecdotes—including encounters with Plato and Alexander the Great—rather than a complete biography. Any writings attributed to him are lost.
