Chris Pronger is a Canadian former NHL defenceman known for his physical style and elite two-way play. He won the Hart Trophy, Norris Trophy, and a Stanley Cup, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015.

Career overview

Born in Dryden, Ontario, Pronger played junior hockey with the Peterborough Petes before being drafted second overall in 1993 by the Hartford Whalers. Over 18 NHL seasons with Hartford, St. Louis, Edmonton, Anaheim, and Philadelphia, he became known for his physical play, leadership, and two-way ability. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy as NHL MVP and the Norris Trophy as top defenceman in 1999–2000, and captured the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007.

International excellence

Pronger was a mainstay for Team Canada, winning Olympic gold medals in 2002 and 2010. He also won the 1997 IIHF World Championship, making him a member of the Triple Gold Club. His international success cemented his reputation as one of Canada's most accomplished defencemen.
