Becker was born in Leimen, West Germany, in 1967 and turned professional as a teenager. He rose to international prominence with his breakthrough Wimbledon victory in 1985, becoming the youngest male champion in the tournament’s history.

Tennis career

Becker became one of the era’s leading players, reaching world No. 1 and winning six major singles titles: three Wimbledons, two Australian Opens, and one US Open. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2003.
